Garden Art Project
“LEAF YOUR CARES BEHIND”
Leaves are available for purchase during regular business hours beginning February 1. All leaves are first come, first serve. No reservations without payment.
Rotary Botanical Gardens (RBG) announces its 2012 Garden Art Project to encourage community participation at RBG, promote local artists and raise funds for support and development of the gardens.
We encourage local artists and enthusiastic people of all skill levels to artistically interpret the leaf design created by the volunteer RBG Grumpies from plywood. When completed, the leaf is clear coated for preservation by Utzig’s Carstar Auto Body. RBG staff will position and install the finished pieces throughout the gardens from Mother’s Day to Labor Day for all to enjoy. A map noting final locations will be developed.
Your leaf should be creative, colorful and unique. Direct advertising or logos are not permitted on the leaf, however acknowledgement will be given to the artists and sponsors with a sign installed with the art piece.
The 40 leaves will be available for pickup, while supplies last, at the Parker Education Center on February 1 during regular business hours. Completed leaves must be returned to the Parker Education Center by April 1. Please do not drop off completed leaves at the Horticultural Center.
Completed and returned leaves become the property of RBG. Leaves will not be returned to the artist/sponsor, however they can be bid upon at the Garden Art Auction on September 9. All are encouraged to participate in the auction; individuals, families, groups, businesses, etc. More details to follow.
A $40 sponsor/participation fee is required to cover the cost of the wooden leaf, stand and anchor to display the leaf and related expenses. Artist supplies will be the responsibility of the sponsor, group or individual.
