Come and join the fun at our Kids Garden Art Camp! Kids ages 6-11 are invited to join us July 18, 19, and 20 from 9 a.m. – noon.
Throughout our 3-day camp we will have 2 cornerstone projects that emphasize our 2023 theme, Monet in the Gardens, an Adirondack chair designed and painted with waterlilies and a Monet poster replicating the famous “Japanese Footbridge”. In addition to our cornerstone projects we will have daily crafts, so if kids are not able to attend all 3 days they will be able to jump right in without missing a beat.
On Thursday July 20 at 6 p.m. we will have an open house for the kids to showcase their art projects and in September, during our Garden Art Project auction, we will auction off the Adirondack chair as a fundraiser for the camp!
Each day will be split in half with a break. We will provide snacks and mini activities to revitalize our creativity. Break activities could include: face painting, henna tattoo (with parental approval), feeding the koi fish, catching up on projects, garden games, etc.
Please dress for the weather, each day has an outside portion. We suggest wearing old clothes as we are working with dirt, acrylic paints etc. Aprons will not be provided.
If you have any further questions or concerns about this program please contact our Education Coordinator, Delaney (Del) Sherwood at [email protected] or 608-314-8415.
Day 1’s project will be decorating and planting a flowerpot. It will entail parts of the plant, basic gardening information, and how take care of your plant. We will adventure to our StoryWalk Garden and get some hands-on gardening experience.
Day 2 will be learning about preserving flowers by pressing. Kids will make a bookmark and an ornament using pressed flowers from our Gardens! The second project will be an introduction to impressionism. We will use oil pastels to create waterlilies.
Day 3 will include an introduction to the famous painting the “Japanese Footbridge” in Monet’s garden and a Japanese’s garden adventure. We will finish painting waterlilies on the Adirondack chair using the skills we learned!
