Not Your Grandma’s Petunias
My camera had some challenges today downloading the 3,000 photos from my recent trip out to the Cultivate ’16 event in Columbus, OH. While many of the photos were of new plants like the Sweetunia® Miss Marvel petunia (Petunia) seen above, I also had great shots from all my stopping points at other botanical gardens and trial gardens. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any shots at the gardens today which are pretty close to summer peak for color. Everything looked great and thanks to our grounds staff (Larry H., Big John, Terry, Trevor and Nolan) and grounds volunteers (Kathy P., Eva, Kay, Gena, Mary, Myrt, Patty, Marv, Dick H., Maury F., Hal R., Larry O., Alan M., Vicki, Steve, Sutton and others) that braved the hot and sticky weather today to help out. A wide range of tidying was accomplished and we finally planted the Caladium Collection which should take off nicely.
I’ve always enjoyed petunias and was smitten with so many that I saw at the Cultivate ’16 show. Most are brand new although some have been out for a couple of years. While I still like many of the older varieties, some of new colors and patterns are exciting….here’s just a taste!
